Oncology Appointment

I met with my oncologist on Wednesday. My cousin Jasan went with me. It was a good appointment. The treatment seems to be on track given what we can know at this point.

I did ask about my MRI. The surgeon called and spouted some numbers at me, but I forgot to ask 'What Stage is that?'. I did look it up and some site said 'Stage III'. The doctor told me Stage III and having the doctor actually say that confirmed it.

And when he said it, it wasn't "Stage III, it's really bad" ... it was, "Stage III, still a chance to totally eradicate the tumor."

While it was nice to actually know, and that there's a chance that surgery won't be required, Stage III seems scary.

Scary, but it's still localized, and I'm getting treatment, and based on how I'm feeling[1] the treatment seems to be working. The other thing is that my Aunt, the one that has essentially the same cancer, was also Stage III. So we seem to keep on being Cancer twinsies!

I also got the results of my genetic test and there's no genetic component which is good I guess. What it means, I think, is that I'm less likely to pass this on in a genetic way. Which I'm still not sure I understand given just how similar my experience has been with my Aunt, but again 🤷🏼

In the middle of May I have an opportunity to go to a baseball game at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. They'll be playing my beloved Dodgers. Given I'll still be going through treatment, and my White Blood Cell count has cratered since I started chemo and radiation, and I've been advised to stay away from crowds I asked the doctor if I should go. He asked how much of my treatment would be left when I went (I've have 5 days left at that point), gave some deep thought about it and said, "You can go. Just wear a mask and wash your hands."  I am very happy about this.

Now, will I feel like going? That's an entirely different question. We'll just have to see
