This should be Week 1, Round 3 but the labs I did a week ago came back with a low Platelet count (only 48) and they need to be above 100
On the one hand I was disappointed. This means that instead of being done on December 14, I won't be done until December 21 (unless I have another interstitial week).
On the other hand, I'm not sure my body, mind, and spirit could have handled starting this last week. My 'off' week was so hard that I was honestly questioning whether or not I was going to be able to keep going with the treatment. Turns out, sometimes you just need a break and my body gave that to me.
Since I had a second 'off' week I've started to feel so much better, though I didn't start to feel a lot better until late Wednesday early Thursday.
On Thursday I went to the Big Kid Office for the first time in almost a month and had Pizza from a local pizza place and a BIG full sugar soda. Maybe not the best things from a health perspective, but OMFG it was so good.
On Friday I had to get labs done again (we need to check my platelet level to see if I can start back up on Monday ... I'm pretty sure I'll be able to) and after that was done I went and Got Panda Express for lunch and another full Sugar Soda
And I ate every last bite of that Panda Express meal. It was the biggest meal I'd had in a while. It was so good!
Last night Troy and Tracy came over. They were initially just coming to drop off some food and have a glass of wine. About 6 hours later (after the Firebirds game was over) they went home. It was an amazing visit. It wasn't what Emily and I expected, but it was nice. I felt last night how I was hoping I'd feel when Sue and Gail were here.
And then today, for the first time since September 3 (the day before my last infusion) I had coffee. It was the best cup of coffee I've ever had.
Today I just feel so amazing. I'm going to remember this over the next course. I'm going to remember that I'm not always going to feel like shit. That it's just a small blip (holistically) and that feeling like shit is what's going to get me to a place where I feel better for a long time.
Troy commented (more than once!) about just how positive I was and how awesome that is. On the good days I seem to exude positivity. On the bad days, it's harder, but it's there. Just buried under the nausea and a bit of self pity.
I've read, and been told, that the patients that do the best are the ones that remain positive. It can be amazingly difficult to be positive, but as I told Troy last night, and I've told other people over the course of this journey, "Lot of stuff can hurt, but it's never hurt to smile ... so I try to do as much of that as I can"
