A week ago Monday I started my chemo regimen. This time it's a 3 week course for 6 times. I start with an infusion on Monday, which takes about 4 - 5 hours. For the first 14 days I take oral chemo 2 times a day. I then have 7 days off. Then I start the whole thing over again.
For the first day or so after the infusion I felt OK. I've had some stressful days at work, and so there have been some sleepless nights. This has not helped things.
By the end of the week I was back to sleeping mostly normally, but I was sleeping a lot more. Similar to when I first started my chemo and radiation this year, but not quite the same. I tend to wake up in the middle of the night, usually to pee, and then will fall back asleep, but not quickly.
I usually write on Saturdays, but I spent most of last weekend napping, and watching TV and resting, and just trying to not feel like shit. Because I haven't felt great for a few days now. I haven't felt *bad*, but I also haven't been feeling like myself, or even really good.
For the first time in my life I'm taking more medications that I can keep track of in my head. Last weekend I used Zofran to help with the nausea, but it seemed to be giving me a headache, which lead me to take some Tylenol.
I was also not eating enough last week, as I lost 7 pounds in 7 days. Not really what I was going for. I think that could have contributed to my headaches as well. In retrospect the pain was reminiscent of a Juice Cleanse I did a few years ago. It just took a couple of days worth of headaches and weighing myself to connect the two.
I'm starting to feel better, but it's all relative. I still don't feel great. My hope is that I keep feeling better each day this week and that by the weekend I feel more like myself.
I have to say I'm really looking forward to next week where the only pill I have to take is Eliquis.
