Holy shit, do I feel not great. I had my infusion on Tuesday (delayed by 1 day because of the holiday). I felt fine on Tuesday. Wednesday I got a little tired, but part of that was due to in person meetings in Palm Springs all afternoon. By the end of the day I was pretty spent. My voice is also super soft due to the infusion and its impact on my vocal cords I think. Wednesday was Caitlin's birthday so I called to sing Happy Birthday to her. But I couldn't do it in my normal over the top operatic style because of my voice and just how tired I was.
When I told Caitlin I wouldn't be able to sing in my silly normal style, I saw a look on her face that looked like disappointment. Later, when I was talking to Doug, he said it was a look of concern not disappointment. She's old enough to know what's going on (she just turned 19!) so when I'm not feeling well, she gets worried. I'm not sure if that made me feel better or worse honestly. I don't want her to worry, but I also don't want to disappoint her. Any, tough day physically and emotionally.
On Thursday I started to feel a bit queasy and nauseous. Nothing too bad, but definitely noticeable.
Friday morning I threw up for the first time during any of my cancer treatments. Luckily (or maybe unluckily) I didn't have anything in my stomach other than water ... but it still sucked. I spent most of the day Friday trying to do something to settle my stomach. Ginger chews, ginger-turmeric tea, pepper mint essential oils. Nothing made it go away, but each thing did help a little bit.
On Friday I also finally called Javier (my Case Manager) and asked about extra services to help navigate this. I was especially concerned with the falls I've had each of the last 2 Saturdays ( I don't know if I mentioned these, earlier, but they were minor falls with no injuries ... other than my pride).
Javier got me an appointment with the Priority Care Clinic in Palm Springs, so I'll be seeing a doctor on Monday to just review everything. Javier also gave me tips for how to take Zofran (an anti-nausea medication that I took once and didn't like). I have 8mg tablets, which are what seem to work best for patients on chemo. Since I was having weird experiences with it Javier recommended to split the pill in 2, take 4mg 30 minutes before I eat, and then the other 4mg about an hour after I eat if I'm still feeling nauseous. So I ordered a pill splitter than should be here today. I think my AARP card should arrive shortly after the pill splitter 🤣
The last couple of days have been harder than I'd like. However, I keep thinking back to my cancer support group and just how amazing they are. I can't believe the amount of strength you can get from a group of people that 3 weeks ago were total strangers.
